Maybe the rich and famous would like me to photograph their boats :). Actually they don’t have to be famous, rich will do nicely :).
Edit: After reading a posting on Facebook it got me thinking about the difficulty that I have writing about my work. Something that I’ve come across on another site that I frequent that likes the poster to write five lines of text to accompany a posting.
I find it very difficult to describe my work in more than general terms such as painterly, textured and general descriptive terms such as location etc.. I find it impossible to write in to a work something that simply isn’t there. My works aren’t inspired or influenced by anything in particular, they aren’t social metaphors or symbolic of anything, they are what they are!. This is a boat going down the river, nothing more and certainly nothing less! :).
Excuse the title of the posting there were “virtual” people in attendance and I assume a few “virtual” pets 🙂 or at least viewing figures would indicate that there were. I thought I’d write a few words about my online gallery launch event yesterday evening. Firstly a BIG thank you to those who kindly viewed the gallery.
I’m gaining more experience in these kind of events. I think that advertising the event on Twitter and to a lesser extent on Facebook was a success and I will definitely do it again next time around except I’ll perhaps start planning and sending out invites a bit earlier.
Although the chat channel was very quiet, one must consider that English is only one language and not everyone wants to chat and, unlike Beyoncé, I certainly can’t claim to have broken the Internet 🙂 I’m pleased that the event has perhaps served to further bring my work to the attention of a greater audience and I’ve received some very positive feedback through the social networks.
At the end of the day it’s pretty nigh impossible to access the direct worth of such events, the only way is to see what the longer-term results might be and although they are quite a bit of work to put together and to publicise they are fun and most importantly if one doesn’t have any money they are free :).
Thanks again and best wishes,
PS. Just visiting my gallery would help to increase my viewing stats and help me publicise my work thanks.
