Quotes from the dark Page

My collaborations with the very talented writer and poet Yvonne White.

‘Nature’s Canvas’

Rushing blues, glimmering gold
casting a spell on me
I’m in a living dreamscape
walking the path of angels in reality
The sky, she sings
the water painting in the shades of jewels
and I am but a witness
as Nature casts her magic with these tools
And in this moment, when color collapses my fears
I can feel the air filling my chest
with the perfume of Life melted in the air
I sit before Nature’s canvas, at her best

‘A Romance That Never Should Have Been’

She was built for starlight
all glitter, glow, and fire
She had the heart of a lion
and passion that would never tire
With a mind as sharp as any blade
and a tongue to match
She could tangle a man’s soul with a smile
their hearts, in her delicate hands, she’d catch

Always saying she’d never be tamed
always promising she’d go her own way
yet Life is a funny and fickle thing
because it listens to the things we say
It was a moment out of the blue
the thing that caged her heart
and like a tamed beast, she gave in
never thinking she could fall apart

But like any promise that’s ever made
all the things he said where just lies
and while her heart was caged within his gaze
her very soul started to die
The night he left was like any other
to the world around her, all was the same
but in her cage, her heart stopped it’s beat
and her soul’s raging fire became but a flame

She is built for shadows now
all ghost, shadow, and ghoul
there is nothing left of the queen she was
she’s no longer royalty, but the joker, the fool
Her heart is still encased, to this day
in the very cage he entrapped it in
but its still, its quiet, it never truly beats
her out of the blue romance was an end …
… that never should have been

‘Let the Rose speak’

There is so much I could say
things built up in my heart, trembling and afraid
I long to express
that which crushes my chest
but my words have again failed me

They say that actions speak louder
much louder than words, yet I cower
so afraid
a mistake will be made
I hide myself so you won’t see

I don’t want to lose you
it would break me in more pieces than two
And so I’ve come here
with just this rose, my dear
in hopes it will say all that I never could

I chose it carefully
because it’s just like you – see?
So pure and white
so true, so right
you are my world, be that as it should

All I ask with this single rose
is that I can be the one you chose
To love, to hold
may I be so bold?
I want all of you, have all of me

I’ll close my eyes now
and with all my hope, bow
to wait with baited breath
heart pounding in my chest
for this single rose to bloom for you, for I, for we …

Streams running with gold
flowing over the rocks of her soul
ever changing their path
shaping and smoothing her edges

And when the rains come
the streams only become rivers
with more strength, comes more change
with more change, more growth

So let the rains come
let the rivers flood over their banks
I don’t want to be this broken thing
I want the gold to seep in
… and change this soul forever

‘Velvet Fairies’

Soft blushes of color
flood through the fields
changing with the wind
as broken hearts they heal
With every whisper
between fluttering petals
a whole new world of delights
shifts and settles
Soaking up the light
bathing the land in sweet scents
we are reminded of the beauty
as velvet fairies shimmer in decent

 ‘… and I quote’

A picture of a dream
a place of sweeping, gentle lines
this symphony of gold and green
frozen in the marrows of my mind
