A Place For Creation

Hi,

Something that I hope is of interest to my fellow creatives. I recently joined a very interesting site that perhaps you already know of, “A Place For Creation” http://aplaceforcreation.com/ Β . You can view my profile at http://aplaceforcreation.com/profile/Leigh-Kemp/

I’ve been corresponding via their Creative Coach Facebook group with the site founder Gemma Louise Kimpton and she’s been extremely friendly and helpful. Looks like they’re building a nice friendly artistic community there.

Hope it’s of interest, check it out and mention my name if you get in touch with them.

Best wishes

Leigh

This little piggy’s off to market!

Hi,

Well not quite yet maybe but, given my spectacular lack of success to date in selling my work online, I’m seriously considering printing up a few of my local works when and if Β funds permit, getting a license to sell at a local market (yes you need a license for everything in this country except breathing but I’m sure that that will come in the fullness of time!) πŸ™‚ and trying my hand at the direct face-to-face direct sales method. I need to give some thought to my sales pitch, I think perhaps, “Please buy my work before we starve!” is a bit too “in your face”, honest, but too blunt so I’ll work on that aspect :).

I can see myself on a cold, wintery Saturday morning dressed in my finest winter togs, beanie hat, fingerless gloves and flask of hot tea , the later essential as I don’t function without it! :). What people miss out on online is my god-given charismatic charm, humour and wit and my “honest John” face LOL πŸ˜€ :D, time methinks to give it a go!.

Best wishes,

A very very sad day, R.I.P Sir David Bowie and thanks for all the years of enjoyment that your music has given me.

750,000 BIG thank you’s!

750000 thank yous blimey

I just noticed that I’ve got a truly unbelievable 750,000 photo views!!.

I never expected anything like that number of views when I first started posting my work on Flickr back in the summer of 2013. Actually I never expected anything, Instead I thought that a few close friends and perhaps other kindly folk might find my photos of some interest.

Thank you all very much for your friendship and for supporting and encouraging my work and for putting up with my eclectic artistic ramblings! πŸ™‚ .

Sincere best wishes,

Leigh

A small homage to Gustav Klimt.

New work: Another Year, Another Boat

Maybe the rich and famous would like me to photograph their boats :). Actually they don’t have to be famous, rich will do nicely :).

Edit: After reading a posting on Facebook it got me thinking about the difficulty that I have writing about my work. Something that I’ve come across on another site that I frequent that likes the poster to write five lines of text to accompany a posting.

I find it very difficult to describe my work in more than general terms such as painterly, textured and general descriptive terms such as location etc.. I find it impossible to write in to a work something that simply isn’t there. My works aren’t inspired or influenced by anything in particular, they aren’t social metaphors or symbolic of anything, they are what they are!. Β This is a boat going down the river, nothing more and certainly nothing less! :).

No virtual people, no virtual pets! :)

Gallery thanks mL

Hi.

Excuse the title of the posting there were “virtual” people in attendance and I assume a few “virtual” pets πŸ™‚ or at least viewing figures would indicate that there were.Β I thought I’d write a few words about my online gallery launch event yesterday evening. Firstly a BIG thank you to those who kindly viewed the gallery.

I’m gaining more experience in these kind of events. I think that advertising the event on Twitter and to a lesser extent on Facebook was a success and I will definitely do it again next time around except I’ll perhaps start planning and sending out invites a bit earlier.

Although the chat channel was very quiet, one must consider that English is only one language and not everyone wants to chat and, unlikeΒ BeyoncΓ©, I certainly can’t claim to have broken the Internet πŸ™‚ I’m pleased that the event has perhaps served to further bring my work to the attention of a greater audience and I’ve received some very positive feedback through the social networks.

At the end of the day it’s pretty nigh impossible to access the direct worth of such events, the only way is to see what the longer-term results might be and although they are quite a bit of work to put together and to publicise they are fun and most importantly if one doesn’t have any money they are free :).

Thanks again and best wishes,

PS. Just visiting my gallery would help to increase my viewing stats and help me publicise my work thanks.
