Oh deepest joy of joys :)

Hi,

I had a recent drive failure on a 1 TByte external drive that I kept all my RAW files on. After many different unsucessful approaches to getting the drive partition to be remounted I thought that I’d lost the lot, some 20,000 files including some priceless memories.

Earlier today I was sitting here and half-remembered backingup some image files to another external drive a couple of months back and, joy of joys, I have recovered most of my files which I’m currently in the process of backing up again to yet another external drive :).

I know the moral of the story is backup but its not so easy when you have so many files. I’m suprised that the ratio of files to finished works that I’ve uploaded to my Flickr page is so low. I currently have about 1,100 files on flickr so a 1:20 ratio surprised me, I’d expected it to be much higher than that.

Best regards

New work: “The guitarist by the river”

Hi everyone,

I stopped and talked with this amazing chap down by the river today. I always like to talk to people and find a little about them, ask their permission to take a shot. I think it rude and ignorant to poke a camera in someone’s face and much more enjoyable to chat. A great guy and a great and enjoyable chat.

This amused me :)

Found these comments on a website discussion regarding hidden features on the OM-D E-M1 which I found amusing:

“There’s a certain sequence of button presses that activates Cartier-Bresson Mode in which all your images will capture the Decisive Moment.” and the follow up reply “and it automatically switches on an extra shutter shock, because β€œsharpness is a bourgeois concept” ! Β

OM-D E-M1

So much to love about my E-M1, now all I’ve got to do is drill down through the menus and find it and then my impressionist works will be that bit more “impressionistic”!

Best wishes

Honey I shrunk my camera bag! :)

Camera Bags

On the right my favourite camera bag, on the left its baby brother, it’s a perfect snug fit for my Olympus PEN camera, 12-50mm lens and a couple of spare batteries for the days when I want to travel super-ultra-light. :). I’ve been looking for one for a while and picked it up on ebay. I’m not in to matching luggage but they are great quality rugged and well designed bags. I also like the belt loop at the back for extra security/convenience.

Kind regards
