If only it could be this way (Non- photographic post)

Hi everyone,

I’m often reminded of something that happened a few of years ago. We took our then six year old granddaughter out to the coast for a day out. Whilst walking around there was a mixed-faith/multi-denominational street event taking place. She turned to me and asked “Do you believe in God?”. I replied “What I choose to believe isn’t important sweetheart and nor is what you choose to believe, what IS important is that you respect and don’t belittle others who choose to believe differently from you and you have a right to have your beliefs respected “. Amazingly the only thing that I had to explain to her was what “belittle” meant. ๐Ÿ™‚ I was raised by very liberal and open-minded grandparents and I’m thankful for it as they encouraged me from and early age to think for myself, free from prejudice, bigotry and pressure.

Kind regards,

Leigh

  1. Yes, you would not believe the huge amount of people I meet on occasion who say one thing, then do something else. In this age, there are still people who belittle everyone for not being like them! If only the world would be one way, but then, it wouldn’t be the world we are already accustomed to. Everything good carries a bad, and every bad has a golden lining (if one only would look for it). A very good post, and glad to see, read and learn from it. If only indeed!!! Happy Holidays and stay warm and safe!!

    • Hiya, Yes, you’re absolutely right. I have a friend who I thought I knew reasonably well. During a conversation he said something like “I don’t understand what they’re complaining about, white lives matter” to which I replied yes of course they do, you’ve missed the point , all they’re saying is that black lives matter just as much as white lives”. He went on to say,, with some disdain in his voice, when talking about gay people that he’d worked with “them” as if gay people weren’t equal. I’m straight and I’m white but that doesn’t mean that I have any less regard for anyone because of the colour of the person’s skin or their sexual orientation. Same to you my friend stay safe, keep shooting and have a great Christmas.
