Back from the black

Hi everyone,

I’m back from the black, I’ve had a period of several months where I came as close as I ever want to be to packing in my artwork. I joined an organisation, no names, but I felt very out of place there, they don’t seem to cater for, support or encourage my “style” of work. I found the whole experience very dismaying and extremely depressing. My fault entirely as I should have known that my work doesn’t fit in anywhere! :).

So I’ve requested that my membership be cancelled, as Groucho Marx saidย “Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.” and that’s how I found the experience. I’m not one for glossy periodicals with content that I found staid, boring and of little to no interest to me, meetings, competitions, exhibitions or other events. l’ll continue to plough my own, sometimes lonely artistic farrow ๐Ÿ™‚

Kind regards

  1. I find that too. No place is interested in my photography. The galleries want edgy street photography and don’t like it processed, which I love doing.
I follow my own muse and suite myself.
I almost sold a photo this week for a brochure for real-estate. They didn’t want to pay $100 and credit me for the photo in the brochure. I told them if I give up copyright it will cost more than $100. It is only $40 for a photo personal use one time. I have sold 3 photos in about 15 years. I sold 3 books. Not a lucrative business ๐Ÿ™‚
