Worthing Pier

Hi everyone,

A painterly work of the Pier at Worthing. I’m always drawn to a pier whenever I visit a seaside resort. Like having an ice cream, fish and chips and a paddle in the sea it just has to be done. A day out to the seaside simply isn’t complete without it. πŸ™‚

My first ever macro shot! :)

Hi everyone,

I’ve never really been in to macro photography as my subjects and interests don’t really justify owning a dedicated macro lens but lately I’ve been thinking about trying it. So I decided to dip my toe in the water and buy an Olympus MCON-P02 macro adaptor lens attachment. This comes with a 46mm thread and a 37-46mm adaptor ring so it fits quite a few of my micro four thirds lenses including all my prime lenses (M.Zuiko 12/17/25 and 45mm, Sigma 60mm and Lumix 14mm) Β and also my Lumix 12-32mm zoom lens, seven lenses in total can’t be bad! :).

I thought I’d give it a quick test with my Sigma 60mm, hand-held f4 @ 1/125 sec., the light was terrible indoors today so I had to shoot at ISO 1000 and I’m quite pleased with the initial results. Β I really need to use my table-top tripod and cable release or timer in the future but I just wanted a quick test to try it out and it’s small and light and takes up no room at all in my camera bag.

PS.This is the first time I’ve every been able to read the date on my watch, I don’t even bother setting it as it’s so small πŸ™‚

PPS. I did another shot, this time with the camera mounted firmly on my table-top tripod with a cable release, f11, 2 sec @ ISO 200. I might get in to this macro stuff πŸ™‚

Chips on the beach

Hi everyone,

We took our granddaughter to the seaside at Worthing yesterday and had a lovely day in the sunshine. Taken with my 14-150mm zoom @150 mm, a little soft but I think it suits the subject.

When in Rome #58 “The one that nearly got away”

Hi folks,

I found this work that I did which I thought that I’d lost of the very impressive Biblioteca Centrale Giuridica/Procura Generale della Repubblica (legal library and law courts) situated on the Piazza Cavour. I recently upgraded my DXO Viewpoint software from v2 to v3, love the auto perspective correction in the new version which works extremely well and reduces the workload somewhat.

Getting this off my chest :)

Hi everyone,

I post my artwork to a couple of sites that require you to habitually write text accompanying the post. As regulars to my blog and Facebook will know I don’t tend to write much unless I feel that there’s something that I want to include such as experimenting with a new technique or maybe an interesting location or occasionally a particular message or motivation to the work etc… I find it very annoying and tedious being regimented in to having to write something purely to hit a word count. I could write a load of pretentious rubbish every time just for the sake of it or I can do as I wish, write as little or as much as I want and present the work for the reader to view and hopefully to enjoy.

That’s better!, glad I got it off my chest! πŸ™‚

Kind regards
