Keeping my eyes open.

Hi everyone,

Up until fairly recently I’ve always closed one eye when looking through the camera viewfinder. I then switched over to keeping both my eyes open which at first felt really strange but it now feels quite natural. I don’t usually find it a distraction and I find it quite useful. It aids situational awareness and what is going on around me and I find it particularly useful as someone who generally likes to avoid getting people in my shots wherever practical, it helps me to spot folks about to wander into my composition but of course it would work equally well if one was waiting for someone or something to move into the shot. Closing one eye now feels a bit like having tunnel vision. I’d be interested to know if you’ve tried keeping both eyes open? and, if so, how you find it?. The nice thing about the PEN-F rangefinder style camera is that the viewfinder is on the left so, being right-handed, I can put the camera to my right eye and it doesn’t in any way obstruct the vison in my left eye. Of course if things become too distracting one can always close the other eye πŸ˜‰. I think that this works very well for me with landscapes/cityscapes and street photography in particular, probably not so well suited to other photographic genres such as portraiture, sport and possibly wildlife? although I can see the possible advantages in all types of photography and, although I rarely use them when using, long lenses.

Best wishes,

Leigh

Rigu magnetic lens filter adapters and lens caps in use.

Hi everyone,

A quick update, I tried out my new Rigu magnetic lens filter adapters yesterday. They works very well, I had no worries about the filters or magnetic caps falling off, they save a lot of time when fitting and changing filters and removes the possibility of a stuck filter. One thing that I did do is pack a couple of centre pinch lens caps in my filter pouch as well as the magnetic ones fitted to the lenses. When no filter is fitted the magnetic ones are absolutely fine but I prefer not to keep screwing and unscrewing the magnetic lens cap (which is also threaded) from the filter. I find that the centre pinch ones suits me better when a filter is fitted. This is not something that one has to do but just something that I prefer. Rigu have since promptly introduced selling the lens-side and filter-side adapter rings in pairs after some initial confusion on my part, yet another of my “senior moments”. πŸ™‚ . It’s great to still be able to buy just one half if required.

If interested see my previous post for more information on the adapters..

Kind regards

Leigh
