Honey I shrunk my hard drive.

Hi everyone,

I replaced my travelling photo backup hard disk drive with a 1TB Crucial X9 USB-C SSD drive. This drive is absolutely tiny and also faster than my older drive. They make them in bigger capacities but this is big enough for my requirements.

Plugged into my Ravpower file hub/travel router/power bank for backing up from SD card.

Thanks to it’s tiny size I can now accommodate more in my add-on Billingham Aeva7 pouch for my Billingham Hadley Digital camera bag: Ravpower hub, Crucial SSD drive, additional USB camera battery charger, Anker Nano USB power bank, spare 18650 batteries and USB C to USB C cable and plug adapters all of which I want to or, in the case of batteries, have to take with me in my hand luggage in addition to my camera gear, memory cards and camera batteries, filters etc..

Kind regards

Leigh

PS. I did a quick test and it took slightly over ten minutes to copy approximately 800 20 Megapixel RAW files from the SD card to the drive using the Ravpower hub. The only thing one can’t do this way is incremental backups, it’s a case of all or nothing and all is always much better than nothing!. πŸ™‚ . As the Ravpower creates date and time stamped folder names after the last backup from a card one can delete previous backup folders of the same card if desired using the Ravpower app. which connects to the phone with its inbuilt WIFI. The app. also allows one to monitor the file transfer progress as well as other features.
